New Jersey Transit Volume 1
This series is a look at New Jersey Transit operations in the early years from the last months of NJ DOT to the beginning of operations of the New Jersey Transit system from the late 1970s into the mid-1980s.
Volume 1 covers both diesel and electric commuter service on the former CNJ, the Erie Lackawanna and Penn Central nee Pennsylvania Railroads from October 1978 to March 1979.
A variety of trains and power including the push-pull diesel operations, RDC cars, the Lackawanna MUs, Jersey Arrow cars and the GG-1/E8 power swaps at South Amboy for the trip to Bay Head.
Footage in this volume comes from cinematographer Ralph Curcio of the Dan McFadden collection and the Dave Deyo of the JPM collection.
