Railfanning the Appalachian Region Volume 3

Railfanning the Appalachian Region Volume 3

$30.00

In 1984 and 1985, we revisit the Appalachian region to view the busy operations of early CSX and Norfolk Southern.

Although many railroads of this area had merged into these two corporations by this time, operations still showed little in the way of change with the present varied paint schemes from the absorbed roads.

Only Norfolk Southern started showing their corporate identity during this period.

In this volume, we’ll railfan the Rat Hole from Junction City, Kentucky to Harriman Junction, Tennessee and then head to the former L&N coal lines in the Corbin, Kentucky area.

We close with action on former N&W and SCL lines in Virginia from Shawsville to the Collier Yard area.
