In the Anthracite Railroads in the 70’s series, we look at the ailing operations of the Hard Coal Carriers in the final years before their inclusion into Conrail. 

In Volume 7, we’ll view the last years of operations on the Reading, Lehigh Valley, ex-CNJ and Erie Lackawanna railroads from 1972 to 1975 

We’ll railfan the Reading’s East Penn branch, Bethlehem branch, Allentown Consolidated Yard, the ex-CNJ L&S line from Allentown to Jim Thorpe, the Ironton working in Coplay and the Erie Lackawanna and CNJ SE-98 and ES-99 combined trains from Scranton to Anomolink over the Pocono Mountain route
